Wish Fulfillment

“Almost every wish of my life has come true,” says Ralph Chicorel, a very talented yet humble man. “I’ve done everything that I’ve wanted to do. Acting—though not professionally. Songwriting—although not profitably. And raising a family—which is probably my greatest achievement and proudest contribution.”

Take a listen to his music and you’ll wish you’d have discovered his talents much earlier.

Humming Along

As you learn more about the musical accomplishments of Ralph Chicorel, keep in mind this unusual fact—he can’t read or write music! Instead, Ralph hears a melody in his head, hums it onto a cassette, and then works with a trained pianist who transcribes the ideas and sets the notes to paper.

Frankly Speaking

He doesn’t get credit or receive residual payments for it, but Ralph claims that back in the ‘60’s he wrote a melody that eventually became the classic tune “Strangers in the Night” sung by Frank Sinatra. His “You Are My Love” was recorded onto an LP that found its way to two major record labels, one of which just happened to be Sinatra’s Reprise Records.

While he accepts his fate and simply says the recognized writer of the song “probably just heard my work and perhaps unknowingly worked it into his own piece,” Chicorel indeed became known back in those days as “the man who wrote ‘Strangers in the Night’”.
